Welcome to the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands Cannabis Commission (“CNMICC”).
The Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (“CNMI”) is a territory of the United States of America located in the Northwestern Pacific Ocean in close proximity to the Philippines and Japan where the Pacific Ocean ends and the Philippine Sea begins, and is home of the deep Mariana Trench.
The CNMI legalized the commercialization and recreational adult use of cannabis on September 2018 through the enactment of Public Law 20-66, the Taulamwaar Sensible CNMI Cannabis Act of 2018, and was subsequently amended in August 2019 by Public Law 21-5.
The Cannabis Act was named in honor of David Kapileo Peter or Taulamwaar, who was a staunch advocate of cannabis legalization in the CNMI for the benefit of health, safety, and overall quality of life of CNMI residents, and established the CNMICC and a governing body of five commissioners representing the respective islands or districts of Saipan, Tinian, Rota, and the Northern Islands.
Browse through the CNMICC’s website for additional information on the public laws, rules and regulations, applications for various commercial licenses, guidelines, eligibility requirements, homegrown marijuana registry for non-commercial personal adult use, and other related information.
The CNMICC welcomes all applicants for commercial licenses and non-commercial homegrown permits for personal adult use and looks forward to working harmoniously with its clients.
